My journey to document the update and remodel of our house on the bay near Grayton Beach, Florida began back in 2017. My husband and I had barely moved in and I had completed exactly three posts describing the renovations when the house burned. (You can read the entire story of The Night We Burned Bay Magnolia Down in the 2018 “Awaken” issue of Good Grit Magazine.) Thankfully, nobody got hurt –and that’s really all that matters.
As we start to rebuild, I plan to continue writing about my sweet little cottage by the bay. We have a fabulous builder and an amazing architect and while I never set out to build a house, I am excited of the possibilities ahead. If I can keep my husband out in tree stands and on fishing boats and golf courses until it’s time to move in it should be a successful endeavor. All he wants out of the deal is a big fishing/hunting closet, a hanging pot rack and a fire pit. I think I can make that happen. Other than that, he said “let me know when the music is playing, the lamps are on and the candles are lit and I’ll be there.” And that’s exactly how I like it.
I hope you will enjoy this journey and that it will give you something pretty to look at and some pretty funny stories to laugh at as well!
I thank you for following along.
